A "Pack" of Winners!

American Canyon High School Marching Band

Celebrates a Successful Season

The 2021 Competition Band Season has been a huge success in NVUSD. Congratulations go out to the American Canyon High School Marching Band (also called the Wolf Pack Marching Band) which took first place in its Division (2A) and third place in Percussion out of 15 teams November 20th at the Fairfield “Tournament of Champions” meet.

These wins followed The Pack and ACHSMusic.Org (boosters) hosting the highly successful inaugural Napa Valley Band Reserve (NVBR) at Memorial Stadium.  The NVBR was a “home game” of 22 bands from across Northern California where The Wolves, in exhibition performance, showed that the “strength of Wolf is in the Pack” before a big crowd of about 3,000 competitors, staff, and spectators who were happy to see competition bands back in action!

Reflecting upon this season, Mr. Brendan Day, ACHS Instrumental Music Director, said. "We began our competitive season back in August with the simple objective of coming back together and rediscovering the joy of performing as a group. Over the coming weeks, the dedication and hard work of these students proved they were determined to come back to the activity as a competitive force. The growth these students had shown from the start to the end of the season was tremendous."

Mr. Steven Green, ACHSMusic.Org parent and planning team member, brings his own perspective to the season:  “As parents, we see ACHS Music preparing our kids for college and life by providing mastery through Competitive Marching Band, Winter Percussion, and Winter Guard.  This competitive program is critical to us because it combines music and dance with athleticism while teaching and developing leadership and teamwork.  That our kids had such a strong finish to the Marching Band season, after COVID disruptions, shows how effective Competitive ACHS Music is, and speaks to success next semester as our seniors lead Winter Percussion and Guard teams.”

Earlier in the season, the Pack competed in the Del Oro Band Review, earning Division 3rd place and a high percussion trophy. They also competed at the WBA NorCal Super Show and earned a Division 3rd place trophy. Find more information on the ACHS music program at https://www.achsmusic.org.

Hats off to the Wolf Pack Marching Band!
